Three Flu Fighter Essential Oils/Blends

It seems that influenza just gets worse every season and arrives earlier. You don't have to be unprepared and you don't have to spends hundreds of dollars on doctor's visits, etc.

There are three "very essential"  Essential Oils/ Blends that you need to stock up on. Our household remained virtually "flu free" last season and I don't take the flu shot.

THE THREE FLU FIGHTERS

  • Oregano ~ Oregano is nature's most powerful antibiotic, it's been said that it is powerful enough to sanitize raw sewage. Oregano is a very effective essential oil that knocks out common intestinal, skin and lung infections, including staph, strep and pneumonia. Oregano may be helpful with colds, asthma, bacterial and viral pneumonia, bronchitis (chronic), mental disease, pulmonary tuberculosis, athlete’s foot, skin parasites, jock itch (always diluted).
  • Melaleuca ~  Melaleuca Essential Oil has wonderful properties that make it one of the most commonly used oils.  It has analgesic, antibacterial, antifungal, antiinfectious, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antiparasitic properties.  It is a strong antiseptic, antiviral, decongestant, expectorant, immune stimulant, insecticidal, neurotonic, stimulant, and tissue regenerator.  Historically, the leaves of the Melaleuca Tree have been used for centuries to heal cuts, wounds, and skin infections.  It has 12 times the antiseptic power of phenol, providing some strong immune building properties.
  • Shield Blend ~  The legend which has its roots in 15th century England during the time of the great plague tells that grave robbers, “thieves”, developed their own blend of Clove, Cinnamon Bark, Lemon, Eucalyptus, and Rosemary to protect them while robbing the plague victims.  This potent blend by Spark Naturals only contains the essential oils and no carrier oil. Studies have shown that these oils can reduce the influenza virus by 90%!
These three oils/blends can be used several ways.

  • You can take three drops of each in a gelcap every three hours at the first signs of sickness.
  • Diffuse the Shield Blend in your home, to kill germs and pathogens in the air. I kept mine running almost around the clock last season.
  • Apply Shield to the bottoms of your feet and Melaleuca to your spine(this is especially good to do with small children)
  • Gargle with a little warm water, two drops Shield and one drop Oregano. Remember that Oregano is a hot oil, one drop will likely be all you can handle. You can swish and then swallow.
  • My favorite is the "Shield Tea." Two or three drops of Shield Blend with a spoonful of honey in hot water. Add a drop or two of Lemon Essential Oil if desired.

A couple of other things to add to your arsenal for cold/flu season are:

Essential Oil & Honey Cough Syrup

If you're already sick and having respiratory or congestion problems, I also recommend the Respire Blend to help you get better fast!

Respire Blend

Spark Naturals Respire blend is a great source of protection during flu season and congestion in general.  The cold winter months force most of us indoors where we live work and socialize in close proximity with others who may have cold and flu germs.  This blend is ideal for germ protection and respiratory issues. It contains Peppermint, Tea Tree and Eucalyptus.  In addition to helping with Cold & Flu symptoms, this blend was formulated to help with any respiratory issues such as congestion, excessive mucus or blocked airways.
