All Natural Lavender Rose Body Powder with Essential Oils

Everyone who knows me at all, knows I'm a bit old fashioned...well, actually a lot old fashioned.

I've always loved dusting powder, especially lavender or lilac scented.

Since I quit buying commercial body products, I've done without.

Yesterday, I finally got around to making some.

Yea, me! I sort of like it too! It's a great, old fashioned sort of bath powder.

All Natural Lavender Rose Body Powder*

1 cup arrowroot powder
1 cup corn starch
1 cup white clay(Bentonite Clay)
1/2 cup lavender buds, finely ground(I used loose lavender tea**)
1/2 cup rose petals, finely ground or 4 drops Rose Essential Oil
100-200 drops Lavender Essential Oil(depending on how strong you want it to be)

*Original recipe is from Organic Body Care Recipes by Stephanie Tourles

**I buy loose Lavender tea, it's basically Lavender buds and they smell divine. I use them in anything that calls for Lavender buds.

Loose Lavender Tea

Grind your lavender and rose petals. I didn't have rose petals, but I ground my lavender buds in my handy dandy Vitamix blender, the dry container part. Love that Vitamix! You probably could do this in a coffee grinder. My food processor wouldn't work for this.

Combine all ingredients except the essential oils in a large bowl or food processor. Stir slowly with a whisk or mix in food processor until blended. Add essential oils and whisk the mixture slowly(to reduce dust). You could also put in a container with a tight fitting lid and give it a few good shakes. It's best to store in an airtight container for about three days to allow the scents to soak into the powder.

It should be good for up to one year without refrigeration. Use just like regular bath powder. Store the excess until needed.

    1. I get the clay from www.redmondclay.com The Lavender I used here was some loose Lavender tea that I got from Harney & Sons Teas. You can find the Lavender buds at Herb websites, such as The Bulk Herb Store.
