I Will Miss You, But it's Time For Change

I Will Miss You,  But it’s Time For Change

We’ve all heard it said that there is an end to all things and I suppose this is a correct statement.  Sooner or later all things do end; some sooner than we expect.

I’ve been going over and over the planning of this blog article, trying to figure out just how to begin and what to say. I suppose the best way is to just jump into the deep end, so here goes.

I am pretty much calling it quits with Patti’s Place, this blog and the Facebook blog, especially the Facebook end. I may occasionally return here to write a spiritual or personal article, I’m not really sure at this point. I won’t delete them and I’ll leave them both up since there is a lot of what I hope and believe is useful information and encouragement.

Mother's Final Ministry

We put our mother in a local nursing home yesterday.

Mother will be 88 on Saturday, October 3rd. She is in very good health, very mobile and very alert. Her problem is short term memory loss dementia. Very, very short term memory loss.

Some days she's very normal and some days she wakes up in a new world every five minutes, or less.

She can no longer realize the dangers of everyday life. What I mean by that is, she still thinks she can cross a busy highway to walk to church or to visit a neighbor on the other side of one of the most dangerous highways in the state.

She may wander out into the yard at 2 a.m. and forget where she is, etc. There are way too many scenarios to list.

Why the Dew Needs to Be On The Ground Before the Manna Falls

Sometimes I run across scripture while studying that I think of as nuggets, rare finds that we normally don't see unless we're digging, so to speak. You just know, by the way your spirit and heart feel, that you've found something of importance.

I was studying last week and when I read this scripture in Numbers, I felt that beautiful feeling. I love it when that happens!

Numbers 11:8-9  And the people went about, and gathered it, and ground it in mills, or beat it in a mortar, and baked it in pans, and made cakes of it: and the taste of it was as the taste of fresh oil.  And when the dew fell upon the camp in the night, the manna fell upon it.

I Miss My Daddy

My daddy, Eulon Adron Page
This is just a little short and, very personal blog this morning.
Maybe there's a purpose in this blog.
Maybe it will help someone mend a relationship before any more time has been wasted.
My mind has been on my daddy the last few days, and how much I loved him.
And the regrets.
Those wasted moments, days and, yes, even years.

Five Favorite Diffuser Blends for those Dog Days of Summer

Are you ready for Fall? I am...temperatures in our forecast are supposed to be up around 110 by the weekend.

YUCK!

The countdown to Autumn has begun!

It's that time of year that I rarely go outdoors. I just sort of hunker down inside and count the days until Fall.

A good diffuser blend helps the mood a bit, it's easy to imagine the crisp smells of Autumn, pumpkins and gold and purple mums on the porch, etc. I've even found myself wishing for snow already.

Here are five of my favorite diffuser blends to help me deal with those "dog days" of Summer.

You'll probably notice that each of these blends contains White Fir, I suppose it speaks to me more than any other Essential Oil for the diffuser. It just takes me to a happy place!

Deborah's Door/Women in Ministry

Deborah's Door

You probably already know this, but I am a woman.

I've reminded GOD of that fact often and HE always assures me that HE already knew that.

I often think of a woman's ministry as a sort of Deborah's Door. Let me explain what I mean.

It's not always easy for women in ministry. I am very blessed to have a pastor who encourages women to be used of GOD in whatever ministry HE calls them to.

There will always be those who think a woman is not allowed to have a voice for GOD or if she does, it is very limited and governed by strict rules. Whenever I encounter this attitude, I'm always reminded of Deborah in the book of Judges.

Saline & Essential Oil Nasal Spray

Stuffy sinuses? Nagging sinus headache? It's that time of year for me and millions of others I'm sure.

I never leave home without it!

I keep a bottle of this in my purse and I use it often.

Summertime colds and sinus problems are sometimes worse than the wintertime ones for me, I suppose because the house is shut up and there's more junk being pushed through the a/c vents.

It's helpful to mix this in a glass measuring cup and then add to the spritz bottle.

Oils and bottle can be purchased here:

Spark Naturals, quality, reasonably priced products always!

Don't forget the 10% discount you get when you use coupon code PATTI at checkout. This discount applies to everything, even already discounted items.

Blessing from Patti's Place to your place!

Fabulous One(or two) Ingredient Ice Cream

I'm updating and reposting this blog from two years ago. It is summertime and everyone is busy making homemade ice cream and it's so good and so hard to resist.

Here's a healthy alternative that is quick, easy and so much healthier for us.

Banana or Banana Strawberry Ice Cream

*Original blog here....

If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes and done it myself in my kitchen, I probably wouldn't have believed it. I had heard about one ingredient ice cream made with nothing more than a few frozen bananas, but I confess I had my doubts, so I decided to put it to the test....

I also had another ingredient I wanted to add....

How to Make Your Own Healthy Almond Milk at Home

This is just a little top note to an old blog this morning, but as I was making some almond milk I realized it's been a while since I've shared the process.

I'm a simple person, often the simplest of things can amaze me....

Making almond milk does that, it really amazes me.

Every time I get through with a batch, I look at that jug of milk and think,

"wow...look what I made from a bunch of nuts!"

The original part of this blog post, with the instructions for making almond milk, seems a bit in depth to me now, I have to say I've streamlined my process a bit.

However, I think that for the benefit of those just beginning to learn to make their own milk from a bunch of nuts(you can use other types of nuts too), I'll leave the in depth instructions just as they are.

After you've made it a few times, you'll find your own "groove" so to speak.

So then....on to the recipe and instructions.

I'm Not Single. I'm Not Taken. I'm Simply on Reserve-Waiting on GOD's will for a mate. Guest Blog by Rebekah Capps

This blog has basically been on hold for the last two months, due mostly to me being so old, tired and just a bit lazy.

My daughter has graciously agreed to allow me to use her honest testimony as a guest blog today. She wrote this as a Facebook post.

Rebekah is a Southern Gospel Singer/Songwriter. I'm very proud of her GOD given talent and anointing.

I know this article was difficult for her to write, but she offers an honest, open look into how easy it is to make mistakes and how to avoid them.

I hope, as does she, that someone will glean some valuable wisdom from her mistakes and her trials.

Please enjoy this testimony from my daughter, Rebekah Capps, better known as Bekah.
